Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company: The World's Largest Pharmaceutical Company

Certifications and Recognition

Pfizer prides itself in high EHS performance and measures it on many levels. Testimony to that commitment is the recognition we receive through our community outreach programs, partnerships, certifications and awards. We aspire to be ISO and OHSAS certified and in the United States recognized in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Environmental Performance Track (Performance Track) and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).

The Performance Track program, as administered by the EPA, is a public-private partnership that encourages continuous environmental improvement through environmental management systems, community outreach, and measurable results. It is founded on the premise that government should complement existing programs providing the regulated community with new tools, strategies, and incentives that not only protect human health and the environment but also provide opportunities to its members to reduce cost and streamline processes while encouraging technological innovation.

Among the criteria for membership in Performance Track are a commitment to challenging environmental goals (typically four public, measurable goals to improve the quality of the nation's water, land, air) and a dedication to continuous improvement. Members report annually on progress toward their goals. Pfizer currently has 8 facilities recognized in the Performance Track program.
